Like hundreds of western artists before me, a visit to Japan had a profound effect on me and my art. Most of their cities are now a blighted, badly planned mishmash of the worst of western architecture. Pollution is endemic. In business the decision making conventions are virtually unworkable and are largely responsible for their economic malaise. Yet the countryside is charming beyond belief. Ukiyo-e lives. But for how long?

These works are from a series that I began some years later.
